Trip and hours

Our bus drivers get paid their regular routes by a trip pay. This means they get a certain pay for one route regardless of how long it took them. However, we must still keep track of their hours for retirement purposes. Is there a way to add an easier way to keep track of all of this?

We do not normally track the hours nor need them to clock in and out for the stipends. May be a few situations where it would be nice to key total hours, but not necessary!

No, it shouldn't matter what the elapsed time is. It should just show the job and the expected or published compensation for that job.

2 Questions from the Red Rover product team:
When reporting these events or exporting them to payroll, would you expect them to report 1 hour + the stipend pay rate?
Would you ever need to track the actual start/end times or duration for a job that is paid a flat stipend?

Mike Sheldon: For me personally, it would depend on the situation. Sometimes there would be hours associated with it and sometimes there wouldn't be. It would be nice to have the option to toggle that on for the specific job.

Misty Blaesing: Thanks Misty. How would you expect this to come through on a data extract so that your payroll system knows how to handle it?

Mike Sheldon: We have an adjustment upload I could share with you if you'd like the template. Can you email me? mblaesing@solake.org

Misty Blaesing: If there were hours associated with it, would those hours potentially affect pay or would they be informational only? Would they impact progress toward OT?
M
Misty Blaesing
Mike Sheldon: It wouldn't affect pay or OT. Most of the time for us, the stipend pay is for teachers extra duty. But the hours do come into play for some stipends and our retirement system.

flat rate

We have things in our contract that teachers get paid for a flat rate. Such as $25 for covering a class. Right now I just have them put in 1 hour or 60 minutes. Then when I see $25 for the hour and the job as cover class I know what it is. We also pay our some of teacher subs through our payroll at a flat rate of $125 a day...I have them doing the same thing.

Yes we would love this as well. We have quite a few odds and end payments that are a set oocurence. Like we pay $25 for a teacher to cover someone elses class in case of no sub being found. But it is just $25 no matter what. Same with some other things. Food Service gets paid $100 for taking their certification, would love to see them be able to put that in.

We process a lot of stipends also, and this would be very helpful.

Yes. I would especially like to use this for bus routes. Rather than clocking in and out, have them "punch" that they're present and driving an AM bus route, PM bus route, mid-bus/suburban route, etc. Most of our bus driver pay options are based on occurrence, not the amount of time. I've hesitated using timesheets for bus drivers due to this fact. We still enter them manually.
