Set a required character length in Notes to Administrator

We require a note to Administrator with certain absences. I have employees who are just putting a period (.) to fulfill this requirement. Is there a way to require a certain length or amount of characters before they can submit.
Also it would be great to have the ability to have a note on Funeral Absences that the employee has to list the relationship of the person for whom they are taking the leave for.

We list the field Notes to Administrators as Required for Bereavement leave and the employee must enter the relationship to the person it is requested for.

Even if there was a box for sick leave to choose one for Myself the other for Family we also use this and would like to have a check box for Bereavement. If none were checked it wouldn't submit until one of the boxes were checked.

Our bereavement absences cannot move forward to create the absence without listing relationship to the deceased. Larry Foxx helped us.

Larry Foxx, can you help me set this up for bereavement, please?

I love this! How do we get this set up?

We have our Jury Duty and Funeral request routed to our HR dept first so that they can gather or request the proper documentation, then HR submits the absences request to the approver for final approval.

I use the additional form link that the employee can be prompted to fill out, but it would be great if there were prompt-able questions that could be presented instead (or in addition to). Even the form isn't necessarily fool-proof, it's more or less a suggestion. Would be great if for certain absence types it could even just be a pop up when they hit "create" that could be customized to say "does this absence meet the following requirements" or something of that nature that could make them backtrack and correct it before continuing.

Yes, I would agree, telling them what we need would be helpful.

It would be nice if we could tell them what information we want in the comments. I have teachers putting their sub plans in the box instead listing the relative for a funeral or what conference they are attending for a professional development absence.

I agree! It would be nice if there was a way to add a drop down on specific absence types that would prompt what we need.

Kami Fidler agree, bereavement leave and sick-dependent leave specifically on our end as both require the relationship to verify leave eligibility
