Notify General Sub Pool When No Favorite Subs Exist

We use the feature in Red Rover where favorite substitutes are notified first of a job and then all remaining qualified substitutes are notified after. We would like to enhance this feature by allowing all qualified substitutes to be notified immediately when an absence is created if the employee related to the absence has not set any favorite substitutes. So, the time reserved for favorite substitutes to pick up a job will only apply if the employee has favorite substitutes set up.

Hi there everyone! In case you hadn't heard, if a there are no favorites subs at the school or employee level, the system will now make that job available to all qualified subs! Thanks so much for the feedback, keep the good ideas coming!

Favorites v/s No Favorites Lead Time

As a district, we allow teachers to select "Favorites" which provides a % of lead time for those subs to see the posted job before others have the opportunity to accept it. Love it! Unfortunately, by utilizing this option, teachers who have not selected any "Favorites" must also wait this same % of time before their request for a sub is sent out or seen. There should be a way to differentiate between those with "favorites" and those without, when it comes it sending out requests for subs. Thank you for your consideration.

Also, please post to subs immediately if a vacancy is put in.

Over-ride Notification Hold for Preferred Subs

I suggest that there be an over-ride option for the preferred sub waiting period. I could reassure my schools and have available assignments sent to subs earlier if there was an option to over-ride the clock that holds notifications for preferred subs. For example, if the teacher has zero preferred or 2 preferred subs that we know are not available on the day of the absence - if would be great if the teacher or Administrator could send out the notifications individually or just open it up to the pool instead of waiting the set percentage of time between when the absence is approved. If I know that we are waiting for absolutely no-one it would be better to start the process of getting a job filled.

when assignments go to the subs

We have some teachers who have set up favorites but others have not. The system still waits the 5% time frame to send out all notifications even on the ones without favorites. I would like to get it sent out as soon as it is approved by admin.

We also have this challenge. Some schools added favorites because the teachers had not but that also means that a school favorite is in the same lead time bucket as the teacher favorite. This could mean that the school favorite is able to pick up a job that the teacher favorite might be better suited for. Maybe if the create an absence screen pulled up the teacher favorites then more teachers would have them listed. Not sure the teachers would want to only have favorites notified when selected while entering the absence, but they would be reminded of the option.

Laura Fry: We have a similar issue, in that the Teacher's Favorite is not receiving advance notice of available jobs, because the School Favorites are also receiving the notification at the same time. The system should be designed to notify the favorites of whomever is entering the absence first (in our case, the teacher most often), and then default to the school favorites if none of the teacher's favorites accept the assignment (or are not available)

Alene Court agreed. It would be awesome if I could push the notifications to all qualified and available if I can see that the favorites are not available.

Laura Fry since responding, we learned that if both the Teacher & School have favorites, it goes to ALL favorites at once, so we have removed favorites at the school level, until such time as Red Rover prioritizes the teachers favorites first, and then perhaps defaults to the school favorites if none of the teacher's favorites are available.

Alene Court I am aware of this issue as well. I have suggested in this idea board that the teacher have a prompt to select a favorite when creating an absence. This way they would see if they have already selected favorites, note if they are available (or not) and the opportunity to select another. Many of our teachers have failed to select favorites. Obviously it would be better if they had the ability to filter by attribute because our minimum criteria is Teacher Sub and a favorite might have more skill in the class area of study (German or Calculus for example). Of course, teachers entering absences from the app are challenged by the needed selections now, but entering them from the website would be easy enough.
