Link Job Posting Templates to Requisitions

I was really excited when the Job Posting Templates rolled out. Unfortunately, since we use the requisition process as a standard in our district, the fact that the templates are not available to the people submitting the requisitions means that we can't use the templates. Or, if we do use the templates, we lose the connection between the requisition and the resulting posting. Please, please, please connect the two functions!

Hiya folks! Just wanted to let you know that you can now choose a Job Posting Template when creating a new Requisition! Wooohoo!!
Now, when you create a requisition, you'll have the option to "start from a job template". Then, you'll be able to choose the template you like, and as you move through the requisition process, the system will pre-fill all the necessary fields using your chosen job template!
Keep the good ideas coming folks. Thanks for helping us make Red Rover better!

Yes, we need this functionality! We have our job templates created, which is helpful for HR to create the posting. However, we typically need the administrators requesting the posting, to review it before going live. If they had the ability to create a requisition, pull in the job template, make the necessary adjustments for that specific posting, and then send it to HR for review and post. Until they are able to use templates in the requisition, it doesn't really make sense for us to use the current requisition process.

Job Posting Template Library for Requisition Creators

Idea
Red Rover currently allows job posting templates to be created, but those templates appear to be available only to the HR/posting user. It would be very helpful if users who have permission to create job requisitions, such as administrators, principals, department supervisors, or athletic directors, could access a job posting template library during the requisition process.
Ideally, the requisition creator could open a searchable library, preview available templates, select the template that most closely matches the vacancy, attach it to the requisition, and add notes for HR. For example, the requester could indicate that the template looks good as written, or that specific items need to be updated, such as salary, school year, location, assignment details, certification requirements, posting dates, or other position-specific information.
HR would still complete the final review and approval before the posting is published, but this would allow the requester to provide better information at the beginning of the process.
Business Case
This would improve efficiency, reduce back-and-forth communication, and create a clearer approval trail before a job posting is finalized. In school districts, many postings are repeated or adapted from prior years, including coaching, certificated, classified, substitute, stipend, supplemental, seasonal, and summer school positions. The administrator or athletic director often knows which prior posting best fits the vacancy, but they currently cannot attach that template directly to the requisition.
Allowing requisition creators to select from approved templates would help HR prepare postings faster and more accurately while maintaining final HR control. It would also improve consistency across departments and create better documentation showing that the requester reviewed the posting language before HR finalized and published it.
An ideal version of this feature would allow HR to control which templates are visible to requisition creators, organize templates by category, and restrict editing so requesters can select and comment on templates without changing the approved language directly. This would protect standardized language, compliance language, and district-approved formatting while still allowing administrators and athletic directors to provide meaningful input.
Benefit
This feature would save time for HR and administrators, reduce errors in postings, improve consistency, and support a cleaner requisition-to-posting workflow.
It would keep HR as the final reviewer while giving requisition creators the tools they need to submit a more complete and accurate request from the beginning.

Job Templates for Requisitions

We love the requisition process. It would be infinitely better with the ability to use a job template. Currently, once a requisition is approved, the job has to be built manually and the pay rate and job description have to be entered every time. Even a simple template that allowed the requestor to drop in the job description and pay type and rate would be a huge time saver on the back-end.

Mike Weisman Perhaps it would make sense for "Job Templates for Requisitions" to be merged with this? Thanks!

Amy Sassara: Good eye Amy! I've merged that idea here and the votes have been retallied :) Thanks for letting us know!

Keeping this request fresh as this is a CRUCIAL piece for our district. Please create this function!

Thanks Lillie, I came in to do the same thing but you were already on it! This is such a frustration.

This is CRUCIAL to our process as well.

Agree! Requisitions are an essential step in creating postings, and without the ability to apply a template when converting a requisition into a posting, it really undermines the whole process. We were genuinely excited about job templates—until we realized they aren’t usable with the current functionality. Such a disappointment! Please fix this.

Absolutely! I just created my first test requisition and realized there's no way to link a job description template. Major bummer! Defeats the purpose of having templates.

I completely agree with this and hope this feature will be added soon. We typically start a job with a requisition so we can track who was in it before. It would be great is the job templates are added to the requisitions and then if the Number of Openings would pull into the job posting from the requisition.
