Employee should get email notification if timesheet is edited, denied, etc.
Paul Benson
When an approver denies or makes a change to a timesheet, etc, the employee should get an email notification containing the nature and/or reason for the action.
Examples:
“Your timesheet for [DATE] has been edited. Please review your timesheet at [LINK].”
“Your timesheet for [DATE] has been returned to you for corrections. Reason: [message the approver types into a text edit box]. Please correct and resubmit your timesheet at [LINK].”

I would also vote for the ability to send notifications from timecards, but but prefer it not be automatic for every admin/approver update. I prefer having the option to notify when changing/saving a timesheet line, or ability to send someone my comment box entry by email on demand. If there are preset messages to select from a list, or ability to send a message to the employee (or their supervisor) that could also be helpful.
Our staff get overwhelmed with system notices and then can't pick out actionable tasks. I might also see it differently because I both admin and approve all our timesheets currently, and only take issues/questions I see offline back to the staff member or escalate with supervisors as needed outside normal parameters. I also do some cleanup like deleting out random stray lines, combining lines that should be breaks instead of separate entries while approving timesheets -- and staff would not need those notifications.
I WOULD really see it as an improvement in my process with this type of email notice is when someone is short of their weekly contract hours and I have to ask them to reach out to the absence admin to get a leave request added or adjusted for the time shortage from their expected hours. We have floating staff, so not all coverage is done upfront through leave requests with subs assigned. Extra time worked for attending meetings or riding bus other days the week can offset the weekly time, so staff and I may not see they are short for a time they were out until the week's hours are completed.
