early clock in not allowed

We are currently set up as "snap to start" if you arrive early within 7 minutes or late within 5. We have employees that will clock in earlier than this. We would like it if the employee tries to clock in earlier than this they would get a messages stating that they can not clock in yet
Roxanne Hanning
Please, please, please add that this feature looks at the snap rule. As much as I want to use this, I cannot because I know that not one of our employees is going to stand at the kiosk until their exact start time and then clock in.

Hello folks! Just wanted to let you know that this feature is now available! You can go to a contract and choose an "early clock" in rule. Currently, there are three options for Early Clock-ins: Allow | Allow but require comment | Always block. Hope this helps! Keep the good ideas coming :)

Good morning Mike Weisman. This is great news! Can you tell us exactly where to update this in Red Rover? I have searched through the Time Tracking section of Settings and cannot find it...
Mike Weisman
BRITTANY SCHIER > Hey Brittany! Not sure if you could see my comment (sorry if that didn't come through!). The setting is on each contract. So you'll go to a contract, click on edit, then adjust the setting in the screenshot below:

Thanks Mike Weisman! Next question - if we are set up to allow for a 5 min snap will this still allow employees to clock in within that 5 min snap window and just block them from clocking in more than 5 minutes early or if we select "Always Block" will they now be limited to clock in at their exact start time (ex: 7:30 am exactly instead of the range of 7:25-7:35 am)?
Mike Weisman
BRITTANY SCHIER Hey Brittany, good question. So this setting does not look at the snap rule. This will just look at their exact scheduled start time, and say "you're not scheduled to work until 7:30, you cannot clock in until 7:30".

Ok, thanks for clarifying, Mike Weisman. That is a bummer! We'd really like to get away from people clocking in early, but won't be able to utilize this feature since we rely heavily on the snap feature. Please let us know if an update is ever made to use both features simultaniously.
Mike Weisman
BRITTANY SCHIER Thanks for letting us know Brittany! Potentially could be an additional enhancement to this feature down the line :)

Any chance to get this request updated? But also make it an option according to certain contracts.

Our district would like to have this as an optional feature as well.
Also, Stephanie, totally random, but Acker is my maiden name :)

Macomb County, MI would certainly LOVE this feature. I see this request was put out in 2023. It's 2025. Is there a solution?

Greensburg Salem in PA would also LOVE this feature.

Just making a note that Monroe ISD in Michigan would also like this.

Alternatively, the system could force the user to leave a comment to accept (not approve) the earlier than scheduled or later than schduled time event. This would enable an admin. to ask an employee to come in early on a single day without having to change their schedule. At present, comments are all or nothing. Either they're left for ALL time events, or not at all, which makes the comments feature too troublesome for daily use.
Larry Foxx
Alexandra O'Donnell: So this is an idea to force a comment only if off-schedule. Interesting!
