Add calendar event categories

We would like to be able to add calendar events with titles more appropriate to the day. We have employees like food service workers who do not work during winter and spring breaks. We would like to call the unpaid days a "non-work day" instead of a holiday. The calendar events very limited.

Non Paid Day - Timesheet

If I have a non paid day, I would like the hours on the timesheet to reflect the "holiday". So if an employee works 40 hours a week, per their schedule, but have a Non paid holiday that week, I'd like the total scheduled hours to reflect 32 hours.

Calendar options when adding new calendar events

What I need help with is the event type options in the Calendars > Add Event drop-down. Currently, the options Cancellation, Holiday, Modified Schedule, In-Service are causing some confusion for staff.
We’ve been using Holiday to block days that aren’t scheduled work days for certain role groups (for example, summer and school-year breaks). While this works correctly on the absence side, it shows up as a “holiday” on timecards, which creates problems for our payroll specialist.
Would it be possible to add an option like Not a School Day (or something similar) to the drop-down? That would help us distinguish these days more accurately.

Agreed! This would be great!

Calendar Building

It would be helpful to have an ‘event type’ description in the ‘add event’ screen that reflects ‘not a workday’ when building calendars. As well, for that ‘not a workday’ description, if it didn’t populate on the timesheets that would be amazing. As it is we use ‘holiday’ which causes our hourly staff to think they are getting paid for days they are not scheduled to work.

Customize Event feature in Calendars

We would like to be able to customize the event feature in Calendars in order to put in non-work days for our paraprofessionals. I am concerned about showing them as holidays for fear that the paras will think they are getting paid for that day. However, they need to be entered on the calendar to ensure that an absence is not reported and a substitute assigned.

We would also like a non-contract day. We just set all of our summer time to "Holiday" and now we have a ton of stuff that needs approved. Additionally...I don't know if other districts do this, but we do allow people that to earn comp time (rather than paid time) when they do training classes in the summer.

Yes! This would be helpful in automating comp time / OT calculations for short work weeks when staff works more than 32 but less than 40.

Yes, I agree! The word holiday is confusing when it is just a non-working day. It would help with summer non scheduled days as well.

I agree! We would love to see "non-work day" as an option for the calendar.
