When an approver does not approve employee hours worked because the approver is off or unavailable, it's important to have a back-up so that the hours get approved. We have two approvers listed for one department, but only one of them is set up for alerts – by design. But when the regular approver is not approving the hours in a timely manner, it would be very helpful to have the back-up approver or "delegate" ALERTED that hours need to be approved. The way it works now is that the supervising approver would have to physically TELL the backup approver to approve the hours. If they don't physically notify a back-up person, the hours don't get approved.
